If you are a voracious reader of mysteries and love to cook and bake as I am and do, I highly recommend Joanne Fluke's culinary mystery series. Ms. Fluke's delightful Hannah Swensen, proprietress of "The Cookie Jar," the most popular bakery in Lake Eden, Minnesota, solves mysteries whilst baking scrumptious cookies, pies and cakes. In the Key Lime Pie Murder,
Hannah and her charming supporting cast (her closest friends and her mother) solve a murder while volunteering at the County fair. Tucked into the pages of this entertaining whodunit are mouthwatering cookie and cake recipes that would do justice to any cookbook. An earlier book, the Lemon Meringue Pie Murder, won a top ten mystery pick from Book Sense 76.
Some other titles in this delectable series include Cherry Cheescake Murder, the Peach Cobbler Murder, and the Sugar Cookie Murder.
In the words of Joanne Fluke, "Everything goes better with a cookie! "The "Pineapple Dream" cookies in the Key Lime Pie Murder, were a big success. Be sure you make copies of the recipes before returning the books to the library.
